new computers are so expensive.....
New computers are so expensive
check the ones from a decade ago that have been retrofitted
i have one of those i retrofitted it myself it has drive cancer and the motherboard is outdated asf i want a new one with ddr5 and ray tracing and an i9 but also mortgage
it's just like phones
won't break the bank if you're not chasing the shiny new things
you can get enterprise workstations and servers for somewhat cheaper than a personal or gaming computer of the same specs
my phone is a decade old but still works sorry (unlike my computer)
I wanted a new one to play Space Marine 2 at the highest settings, but i got bored of it after i realized literally half of my gametime was staring at loading screens. No new games have made me want to upgrade.
How? Most batteries start losing charge faster, and software starts making more glitches on old out of date phones.
i recently upgraded to a new GPU but kept the CPU mobo RAM PSU and SSD
i needed a new casu tho becuse the old one could not handle it c:
10 year old computers are doing just fine. The only trouble however are GPUs, but that'll always be the case.
i just bought the same laptop i already own but with more ram because the rams fucking soldered
fuck laptops
rip
rams fucking soldered
wtf that is fucked up
update burned arm hurty again ngmi
why can't i have pain killers without a prescription in america wtf
incredibly cursed and evil practice
must acquire more goo
Tommy Tommer I love you
trolled hard
also i just use an old thinkpad because i don't play any game released in the last decade
could you replace just the motherboard for cheaper?
oh you already bought a new laptop my b ad
play fire emblem: the sacred stones for the gameboy advance thank you
replacing laptop motherboard seems like it would be an awful experience but I can't really into computer
i guess so
4070 super and latest core ultra 7 ai slop processor
no sorry
did you beat the eater of worlds yet
i don't trust newer graphics cards
1080ti is good
are you two playing vanilla or modded?
I think croft is playing vanilla I'm not part of it
oh i see
Pro tip: buy a cheap used computer with the mobo you're looking for and upgrade around it.
I'm on a prebuilt I upgraded by this method instead of dropping 3 bands on a new rig.
yes sorry
worm scarf my beloved
true
Imagine not being able to desolder RAM with a heat gun lmbao
that can be done?
does it take like 2 hours?
hello?
~15min, more or less. You just gotta wait till the gun gets to about 360°F, hot enough to melt soldering tin, and then move the gun around the area where the component is soldered. The trick is just waiting till it's hot enough to desolder components but not hot enough to actually burn them inside.
ah ye, ty
The trick is just waiting till it's hot enough to desolder components but not hot enough to actually burn them inside.
i thought that was kinda difficult, especially with stuff like ram where there's many many solder points
That's why you gotta have a thermometer to keep track of the temperature.
not having a simple 1000 dollar saving emergency fund in case computer breaks so you can immediately go to best buy
When your desk falls over one days you will thnk me
oh good idea
i think my parents have one of those in their kitchen
i gotta become well-socialized again
wat you need it for?
you can buy decent refurbished office/desktop mini PCs for about 200 bucks. that includes upgrade of RAM and storage to be contemporary.
i want a new one with ddr5 and ray tracing and an i9 but also mortgage
understandable
what do you NEED tho?
with a mortgage I guess you don't have disposable income
