Something less drastic than this happened with my last gf. In my teens and 20s I used to build plastic models, cars, ships, buildings etc. When I moved out I had to pack them all away because i had nowhere to show them. When we moved in together I made it clear that I wanted to be able to display them in the apartment since they had been in boxes for years. At first she was okay with it then as the months passed she started to get annoyed, asking me why I wanted to even have them out. Eventually I asked her if she even cared about the hobbies that I do and she admitted that she doesnt understand why I do them and that she doesnt have any interest in them.
