Do you guys have % goals that you are trying to adhere to? I've only recently started and I'm thinking that having a clear percentage goal would make it easier to manage risks.
With active trading is doubling the starting cash too much of an expectation? It should be around +0.3% daily/+1.5% weekly/+6.8% monthly which seems reasonable, at least in todays market.

+0.3% daily would be 298% a year. You will blow your account up chasing that. 7%-8% yearly real returns is generally considered pretty good.

Don't frame it in terms of daily, weekly, monthly % quota you have to meet. Unless you have very little capital you get the best results by most of time doing nothing. You may go lots of time without any gains and then get 50% or more over couple of weeks.

If you beat SPY yearly you can honestly look at yourself in mirror and know your active trading is worth it and you are in fact beating the market. It takes considerable skill though to be able to achieve this for most of consecutive years. This is where the real challenge is.

The first batch I bought were $37 January 2025 puts when it was trading at $92. I since rolled them over into several different lower OTM strikes to maximize my upside potential, but at the cost of a lot more downside risk.
