Breakfast Club is Bad

Film is seen as a American cult classic that represents teenagers and high schoolers

By the end all the characters lose their personalities to conform to me basedcity for literal no reason at all

How do people find this movie good?
Everyone who I talk to just says its great because it’s iconic without actually giving me reasons
One guy I knew said the concept of the movie is great as a positive but that could be said for literally any movie ever
Like there are way better movies from the 80s and its not a particularly funny movie
I feel like movies like these morgues have to say are good because they need to validate the time they spent watching it so they just say something even poor is good essentially normie cope or fit within the herd mentality
Also I guess cause the bad boy ends up with the popular girl despite zero character development

IMG_5733.jpg - 750x400, 49.65K

Breakfast Club is bad

This basically applies to all (((Hollywood))) movies

In the 80s the idea of these people actually coming together and learning to like each other was so preposterous that it was revolutionary. In a normal high school the Chad and Stacey character would've bullied the goth girl into killing herself.

I liked it

bullying is shown as good and makes people not be weird

teens have problems but suck it up bitch

girls just want to be seen as cute

She's not goth, she's a weirdo loser

That's a very masculine "woman."

Not true. They wouldn't necessarily meet each other outside of school but plenty of people in high school liked each other cross cliques just fine. Middle school was incessent bullying. High school you had to be an asshole to get bullied.

at my school it took the threat of an Asian gang to make the white kids come together

Oldfag here, and I was in high school around the time that movie came out. (A bit after, but still...) the movie is and was a classic because it showed characters looking beyond their cliques, making friends with people outside of their circles without fear of what other people would think of them.

I can see where none of this applies today in schools filled with badly behaved nigger monkeys, pronoun police and faggots, because sane White people want no part of that. But the movie resonated in 90% White America.

IMG_8619.jpg - 2000x1000, 278.34K

It's not a 'cult' classic. It's a classic, period.
It's just a cute story of White kids from different walks of life finding out they have far more in common than they initially thought.
And also having to confront the fact that they assumed the others don't face difficulties.

The grass is greener on your side

No it's not, the grass is greener on yours

And then they discover how basically they're all just kids trying to figure out where they fit, and having to confront the identities they've built for themselves, based mostly on their initial circumstances in life.

This is GenX's coming of age movie.
GenX has shit taste.

as opposed to.. ?

John Hughes made only one good movie, and that is Home Alone. Home Alone 2 is resurging now only because of the Trump cameo.

How do people find this movie good?

they don't its always been a forced meme just like the theme song. forced jew slop

Ferris Bueller, though.

How many of the actors are actually jewish? I never saw it

Home Alone is good.

If the burglars were niggers it would've been good.

You're 50 years old

Super bad starring everyone’s favorite jews. Better coming of age story

It's a fun slice of life, get over yourself.

Save Ferris!

I know you have to suck heebcock to succeed in show business, but it was not so bad back then. Breakfast Club has a zero nigger count, it was written and directed by the likes of John Hughes who is a goy, it is not jewish in spite of being set in a jewish suburb of Chicago.

Everyone who I talk to just says its great because it’s iconic

This is how herd animals think. Followers. NPC

I feel bad that anons are too young to have seen the 1980 film "Roadie" in the theater:

youtu.be/W3VCcVvMfqU?si=HwBh1zDX1yhsY6at

Beer truck driver played by Meat Loaf is a mechanical genius

gets talked into being the roadie for a travelling rock and roll show

several famous musicians do cameos in it

Music by Cheap Trick

These days, the movie is most famous for peak Deborah Harry singing "Ring of Fire"

i can tell you're a 00's kid not an 80's or even a 90's kid

>By the end all the characters lose their personalities to conform to me basedcity for literal no reason at all

It isn't no reason, it's a direct observation of how people are when isolated from their in-group. Teenagers especially can become kinder and more understanding to people they'd otherwise bully, simply because they're taken out of the normal environment they interact in, and placed in one with different observers, or no observers at all.

The message is that people are all kind of the same, and our identities we carry around don't really represent us properly.

I don't really think the movie says anything important, or point out anything we didn't notice ourselves. Like for example when we'd walk home with someone we'd usually make fun of, because on that day it happened we had nobody else to walk home with, but it is an accurate portrayal of high school cliques, and truth is something people resonate with, in humour and storytelling.

Nelson is, Sheedy is a mischling.

I didn't like it as a kid when it came out, nor in college, nor as a young adult. I think you have to be a dork or oddball in school to like it.

cult classic

No it's not it's just a regular classic if it were a cult classic it would have done bad originally then good or at least a small strong fan base instead it's liked/loved by dozens of millions maybe hundreds of millions

Funny how many of us oldfags there are on here. I’m 55.

it's like Office Space. it's not the best movie ever, but it's entertaining enough to have become a mainstream culture icon. at that point nobody is thinking about the actual movie when you talk about it. they are thinking about what the movie symbolizes.

Better Off Dead and Night of the Comet are cult classics. And they’re better than Breakfast a club and Pretty in Pink.
That is a hill I’m prepared to die on.

That's what he said.. Goth

This and the fact that it's basically more culturally significant than any movie made in the past 15 years

I went to a one-high-school town, so all the cliques knew each other and overlapped. We still had our subcultures, but that was just normal.
I went to a somewhat wealthy high school for a year in a large city, and the separation was more extreme, not based on hate, but class.

Based John Hughes enjoyer

How about MIDNIGHT MADNESS, watched that shit on repeat.

That's true.,, both statements

All white cast in middle America

I was on Anon Babble back in the aughts, when it was what Anon Babble is now. Never left.

IMG_0003.png - 1202x1032, 1.51M

I WANT MY TWO DOLLARS

Because it's about the benefits of conformity and leading healthy, stable lives. Instead of being a femcel or criminal.

she's a weirdo loser

That's the very definition of Goth you dumbass Bulgogi

The math class is the funniest classroom scene ever filmed, bar none.

Hey, I like Bulgogi mister. You're a whopper.

all characters lose their personalities

They didn't though.

zero character development

The development wasn't in changing the kids as much as getting to learn about them. You find out the prototypical nerd wanted to off himself due to perfectionist parents. The jock's dad abuses him. The weird girl is neglected. They learn about each other's stories, but the movie makes it clear that things probably will just go back to the usual for them the next day, and that's realistic.

be 32 year old me walking down Granville Mall Vancouver BC. See movie poster in front of theater. THE BREAKFAST CLUB. "Oh look, it's all jews". Continue walking and think about something else. Many such cases

Its made for a different time and being a hecking individual is stupid and gay

This post is so retarded that it is making question whether leftists actually have a valid point with that whole “media literacy” nonsense.

The entire point of the movie is completely opposite to what you just described. None of them had “personalities” they were all insecure little retards that found a place within the social hierarchy by typecasting themselves into a stereotype. They get to know each other and find out they are all a bunch faggot teens behind the facade so they all end up fucking each other, except for the ugly nerd.

I was pissed that the nerd didn't get pussy plus he had to write the report for everyone

Fast Times at Ridgemnot High was my generation. Watching it again it was pretty dirty, a lot more risqué than I remember.

big_fat_hairy.jpg - 1280x720, 109.82K

Oh look, it's all jews

pretty sure Estevez isn't a jew

conform to me basedcity

Huh?

I rewatched Highlander recently and I forgot at the beginning where he almost fights the cop for calling him a faggot.

I'm 40, I don't consider people under 35 fully human, don't even get me started on 22yo zoomers in here who think 30yo's are elderly.

Bender was a very obvious jew

Have you even watched the movie?

conform to me basedcity

I'm too dumb to assume what you could've meant there.
But I agree. No movie represents shit. It was just a story they wanted to tell so they could play a bunch of new wave music

I like it because of the cute goth girl and hated how she changed to pink girl at the end.

Be 29 year old me walking down Vancouver's Granville Mall, see poster on theater; FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH. In the middle of the poster is Irish jew Sean Pean. "Oh look another Hollywood jew movie save for the shiksa whores. Keep walking and think immediately about something else. Many such cases.

You a faggot, Nash?

Why? You cruising for a piece of ass?

Kek. Man knew how to talk to cops.

By the end all the characters lose their personalities to conform to

No, they do not.
In fact, some of the ending dialog even acknowledges that they probably won't ever hang out again.
However, what they DID do, is learn about and accept each other.
Watch the movie again, retard.
It's an anti indiscriminate bullying film

Molly (((Ringwald)))

Molly Ringworm.

Breakfast Club - The message of the movie was good, but it did re-enforce stereotypes. Of course the jock's dad abused him. Of course the stoner's dad abused him. Of course the nerd's dad abused him.

A little more unknown, but def a generational movie.
youtube.com/watch?v=HRnfd6m8BqU

I'm 45. Like the gun.

I always remembered the line
"Don't move, pal. Don't even breathe." He delivered that pretty well.

The characters are losing fake personality fronts caused by drama

On the contrary, it's a great film about talking things out, finding your place, and realizing no one is the main character in life.

Don't you forget about me now.

It's another "I had fun once and it was awful!" thread.

Anon Babble is so tiresome.

I'm convinced the people that think it's not a good movie are seeing it with a shallow perspective. Like a zoomie who only pays attention to aesthetics and doesn't understand what is actually represented on screen.

Also apparently the ugly nerd actually dated Molly Ringwald and is a chad now. Funny.

Sòycity

Watching cucked Hollymutt movies instead of based Soviet absurdist comedies

Kek faggots

Bullying enforces groupthink. Every normie beta is the product of bullying or the fear of being bullied.

you were born in '84 faggot you're not a wise elder by any means lmao

I agree, but only because Cam and the principal stole the movie. Broderick has never been a good actor (always playing Ferris in everything and completely miscast for adult Simba), and his girlfriend had less personality than toast.

Niggers wouldn't be smart enough to use a contracting company as a front.

based Soviet absurdist comedies

Recommend some.

Remember when every movie had a topless scene in the girls locker room? Kino era imo

Breakfast Club is Bad

TBC is dog shit in the context that it is contemporary with 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' which is quite possibly one of the best movies (along with 'Home Alone') ever made. People claim that TBC is better and I have watched it like 3-4 times and hated it every time, the entire concept is gay and dumb 'even though we think we are different, we are like the same man'. For some reason girls really like the movie. I have had this debate with like 3 different gfs that claimed TBC is better that Ferris Bueller. I for the life of me cannot see what other people see in TBC, I think that Ferris Bueller is insanely fun, hilarious, peak Americana; but maybe its just a guy thing.... IDK.

Bullying enforces groupthink.

The cope of the weird kid.

Kin Dza Dza
Zerograd (translated as Zero town, zero city)
White Sun of the Desert
That's also how I rank them but they are all great

I mean they're very different movies and both are good. FBDO is funnier for sure, one of the better comedies ever made. TBC is just a snapshot into high school life, entertaining but not mind blowing. The performances were solid.

the bad boy ends up with the popular girl

after watching st elmos fire and fast times at ridgemont high (both shit propaganda movies that goes against the narrative that media was better in olden times), I've come to the conclusion that the bad boy trope is some hollywood cuck fetish, it's so over the top and extreme that there's some kind of humiliation aspect attached to it (the producers want to humiliate normal guys and also humiliate the pretty girl). in real life there are women who go for criminals (these are always trashy girls), and there are guys that girls call bad boys (but these are just normal guys who have lots of options with girls and date around), but the bad boy portrayed in these movies in just an awful person who in real life would be isolated.

The movie was fine until the cringy ass "dancing" scene where they break the 4th wall. And of course OPs pic where the most unique and cute outcast girl gets thotted up

It's a good movie full of an all-star cast of talented actors.

you're such a faggot
i have never seen you make a single good post

you're such a faggot

I'm not like you zoomers. I'm not an omnisexual degenerate that fucks anything that walks.

i have never seen you make a single good post

You need to search further. Did you bother watching the movie?

It was a movie that came out like 40 years ago and it might be considered ancient history.

TBC is just a snapshot into high school life, entertaining but not mind blowing

Doesnt TBC feel a bit preachy though? Like "calm down edgy kids, be nice to eachother because you are all in the same boat". Whereas FBDO seems to really capture the American spirit like "Just go for it, go for broke, risk it all; be BASED and you will win bigly, NO RAGETS".

TBC isnt a shit movie, but people talk about it like its the pinnacle of High School movies.... IDK I just dont see it.

shut the fuck up bitch, you already got exposed as a fucking pedophile multiple times you pathetic little fag, fuck you. you're fuckin done here you god damn homophile.

To everyone, either old, or young,

35 years old is your cognitive peak. If you're under 25 you really have no idea how stupid you are, but you'll come to realise it. After 35, you'll have a very gradual cognitive decline. You won't be as dumb as you were at 20 again until you're 80, and from your 80s onward the decline is rapid, and you could even decline to a childlike mind.

Basically shows no matter what type of group you fit into you're all fucked up in some way or another be it family abuse or trying to hit expectations others expect of you bla bla. kino film fuck off mudshit.

60 checking in.

This movie is shit because the nerd is snubbed and doesn't get any pussy. Looks like he won in the end though, IRL.

Give us your coming of age movie

shut the fuck up bitch, you already got exposed as a fucking pedophile

Sorry. The delusional ramblings of some obsessed cel saga ass nigga doesn't prove anything, niggerboi. Mods: time this bozo ass nigga for 2 months. Try your dumb shit somewhere else on someone who isn't infinitely above you. ORDER UP.

and yet now the western world is rife with tranny wokeism look at me im a unique individual bullshit

I didn't see it as preachy at all. The core theme is that we put on acts for society to try and fit into a niche, but behind closed doors, none of that shit really matters. It's not complicated and that's the appeal.

Npc bot

Any of the shitty christmas movies where the goys fight over wealth like national lampoon

It's what happens when you don't tell spoiled children "no".

masons are semites and they are brown.
this movie is a psyop because it glamurizes the lack of purpose in life.
a bunch of retards get suspended and tell their adolescent dramas as if that is the pinnacle of human experience.
retards look at that and feel validated, it doesn't push humanity forward, instead it incentivises shallow behavior.

Guess you got bullied too?

I need to get off this board and never come back. You guys are pure toxic energy leeches.

looks like jim carrey from pet detective 1 (the bad one)

No, I just see people acting like bots, never questioning anything

Yes. I'm old AF and was bullied hard enough that I still have CPTSD to this day. Problem is that now the bullying is simply institutionalized on behalf of the mentally ill. It hasn't gone anywhere at all; it has been weaponized against the pillars of normal healthy society. There are few people more spiteful and ready to grab the pitchforks and torches than grievance professionals.

let's normalize all our trendy psyops by making all our groups of retards get together and get allong.

the state of americans.

Good lord, Super Bad? You poor broken soul.

You won't do shit glowfaggot

It's mostly indoctrinated parents (or single moms) setting their kids up for failure by raising them to be unlikeable, out-of-touch snowflakes.
Pretty much all bullied kids suck at age-appropriate play and that's always the parents' fault and it only gets worse when you have woke psychologists promote hyperindividualism and feed those parents bullshit about "groupthink" or "conformity" to blame everyone else. Essentially, you only get bullied if your response to a provocation invites more provocation.

Do you think the supposed eradication of bullying has something to do with it?

It's two things:
Doctors pumping kids full of every psych meds under the sun
Non-stop talking about your 'problems' with never ending therapy, causing people to hyper-focus on their supposed problems, never solving them, typically making them worse

It's shit parents instrumentalizing the institutions to fix a problem they created, which, in turn, makes the whole thing an exploitable political agenda.
Fundamentally, the main thing that creates school shooters in hyperindividualism. You throw a bunch of kids into a classroom and demand they all prove to each other how unique and special they are constantly, you can't expect some kids to not embarass themselves over and over again til they snap.
By removing bullying, parents essentially made sure the last possible corrective their peers could exert on their kids was gone, and all that was left was humiliation for those who weren't cut out to impress anyone.

What do you mean by “age appropriate play”?

Exactly

It’s about growing past your pretentiousness and imperfections to become a normal adult. You need to be 18 to post here btw.

Childhood is thinking The Breakfast Club is deep

Adulthood is realizing Ferris Buller would've skipped going to Saturday detention.

youth is realizing that X from the kids had figured it out

adulthood is realizing the principal got it right and all the kids are faggots

In an extended sense of Piaget's stages of development, where a teenager can't respond to an insult in a way that diffuses the situation in his favour.

It's shit.
Gimme a list of based 80s films.
Starting:
Caddy Shack
Big Trouble in Little China
Ferris Buellers day off

it sucked because there weren't any niggers in it

What's your reddit screenname?

They Live

Terminator

The Thing

Sagehood is realizing "Weird Science" is really Anon Babble's John Hughes movie.

ace ventura was great, maybe you're just gay?

peer groups of same age are fake and gay and a consequence of public schooling. however, not saying your take is wrong but it's a derivative of a wrong trend

Age “appropriate” play

Aged like milk.

Yea, it's all artifically created by sorting kids simply by age.

Only gen x NPCs think it's good.

Nobody stopping you from coming up with a better term for the ability and readiness to respond to whatever your age cohort throws at you.

The Breakfast Club. It really seems the final cut of the movie is really different than the final release. There are plenty of scenes through out and in the recently released that hint that the movie originally had a different tone and probably even plot too.

Ringwald, Nelson, and Sheedy's characters are most likely wealthy.

Sheedy's character is femcel autist who is after Emllio's character. She literally admits she didn't have to be there. In the extended scenes it's evident she was there because she wants to be with Emilio.

Nelson's character is a POS and was there because he wanted Ringwald's character.

Emilio and Hall's characters are most likely not wealthy, and instead are middle class. the High School they are attendeding is probably for wealthy students and are there on an academic scholarship. The Janitor character has a line taken out of the final cut about how much he makes.

Anthony Michael Hall's character supposedly did get a female counselor that was cut out of the movie. Actress is Karen Leigh Hopkins.

i like the movie because i want to fuck that one girl that not molly ringworm. the weird one.

It sounds like a weird euphemism

I guess, lol.
In child development, it mostly means the ability to keep up with the games the other kids play.

Incorrect on both accounts retarded leaf. Columbus directed Home Alone and although Hughes wrote the script, the film is entirely Columbus' slapstick dreg. And Hughes made some memorable films like as well as Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

Notice that the degenerate jew triumphantly raises his fist in the air at the end. This symbolizes their victory in psychologically destroying europeans via the superficial systems of school, sports, and parental careers. The cherry on top is seducing the white redheaded female and getting the blonde male to do his work for him.

And they realize the system (principal) is the one fucking them over.

Three O Clock High.

The original cut of Fast Times at Ridgemont High is way different in tone, and seems to be really based. Supposedly it does exist but might not ever be released.

Phoebe Cates character is a turbo whore. An awful character. She is basically telling all the young women to get abortions. Take note that despite the Damone character being punished for Leigh's character getting an abortion, Cate's character got her to sleep with some grown ass man earlier in the movie. Leigh's character was going to have an abortion anyways because of Cate's character.

Mr. Hand was supposedly a lech who was very hands on with the female students, and he liked Hawaii five-o a lot.

Whitaker's character has a screwed up character arc that supposedly involves him becoming the dindu the meme statistic.

youtu.be/BxEjOlDc798?feature=shared&t=15
youtu.be/SsHVgnRb4Ns?feature=shared&t=19

The Fast Times show is superior to the movie. Most of the show's cast is superior to the movie.

Fast_Times_.jpg - 442x610, 84.85K

Because it depicts teenagers as they truly are: amorphous underdeveloped sketches of people. They go with the role they were defined in because it's at least an identity. That's why a lot of the movie is about them all kind of breaking down the bullshit constructions of their personas after they let their masks slip. It's up there with The Catcher In The Rye as an amazing realization of what being a teenager is really like.

Not sure Hughes falls under the category of crypto jew since his films aren't very subversive or undermining of white society.

Ferris actor killed people when driving and got away with it

HEY HEY HEY HEY
OOOOoooooOOOOOooooooooooo

Checked. And his sister from the movie was in the car with him.

She was great in her role in Psych

Yeah they were fudging each other raw. Kinky weirdos, banging their fictional sibling. Their relationship also did not survive the crash.

Exactly. John Hughes movies are an America that no longer exists. A BETTER America, without terrorism or niggers or immigrants everywhere, no women and trannies running the country

You are a third world country.

Captcha DNA YO

They were all middle class white kids.

Indeed. It also does a good job of addressing the walls we put up around ourselves, and one another that prevents us from reaching an understanding. We try to communicate, but all that we end up doing is hurting one another. Sometimes out of spite, out of fear, or out of retaliation for some imagined hurt that we cannot even address anymore, but the nearest person provides something of an analogue for that outlet; a straw man to knock down in our abuser's place. The walls become prisons, but they also become security blankets. They keep us inside, hurting, but we imagine that at least they could keep new hurts out. We hold onto them, think they'll protect us.
They don't. They still let them in, but those pains never leave. They just stay in with us, hurting us over and over again.

The Breakfast Club explores a hypothetical situation where for one day we tear down those walls, and face one another without pretense. A day where we let go of the fear that we could get hurt by doing so, by accepting that we're already hurt, and risk the possibility that we might actually become friends.
