You should instead look at how they have improved since the 2010s. A bit late to the party due to the aforementioned issues, but now they are among the fastest growing countries in the world and tied with Vietnam as the fastest developing economy in the region with economic prosperity trickling down to more and more people.
Sure, it could be better, like more reforms in agriculture, getting more renewables and subsidizing the electricity of industries but they’re a success story now.
