For them to properly develop (if possible for your racist minds) they actually would need protectionism as we flood them with products and compete with their local manufacturers. I mean just look at Europe. Aldi and LIDL open up everywhere in south/southeast europe and are a major competition to the local grocery shops.
Now, what is made in the US? I have an HP Laptop here. An XBOX 360 (that does not seem to work anymore). I also have an electric guitar and computers. But how much of that is US except for the Software and the initial invention? The RAM in those PC are Samsung. How American is NVDA with Jensen Huang at the top? Is he an american now? Would he be considered an american if he wasn't successful with his company?
The US is Tech, software and weapons. I might actually have never seen "made in the US" on any product here.
