I've played a couple hours of the latest one. It's fun.
I enjoyed taking the castles and going around assassinating these samurai for shiny armour. The core stealth mechanics are reminiscent of shadow tactics. Stealth involves bushes, lighting, etc. I also recommend disabling most hud elements and setting it to the hardest difficulty. It becomes more engaging that way like most other recent ubisoft games.
The game's biggest weakness by far is the mission structure / story. It just doesn't work that great compared to other open world games where there's a direct main questline with side storylines in the form of side quests. However, when you do get a "story section", it's pretty fun and I'm looking forward to when a castle is part of that.

The game's a solid 6/10. average ubislop with some nice attention to detail here and there and some fun stealth if you're into that. Definitely not worth full price but it's worth a download if you get a free trial to their subscription service.
