I don't mean there are alternate timelines at all times, just that events in the world affect how future causality will play out. If somebody dies, there's a sudden change in how the future is calculated. We're still in the reality timeline, but maybe for a moment you can see an echo of a quantum state where that person was alive. Maybe there's a whole landscape of these echoes bouncing around us, not ghosts but things that exist until they're cancelled out.
